Update – August 11, 2020

August 11, 2020

Dear staff, students and families,

We wanted to let you know that Career Tech students will resume the 2020/2021 school year under a new Comprehensive Distance Learning plan due to Oregon and Lincoln County not meeting the required metrics to reopen schools for in-person instruction. We understand that for many students distance learning is challenging and we will do our very best to work with you to meet individual needs and to keep students engaged. We also invite you to proactively reach out to staff if something is unclear or assistance is needed.

The Distance Learning model is scheduled for nine weeks, from September 8th to November 13th, 2020, but may be extended as needed. Donna Seeto will be reaching out to students over the next three weeks to register for fall courses.

The status of school reopening is still very fluid, and we continue to receive regular updates from ODE and local and state health authorities. Under current guidance, when Career Tech is approved to move forward with in-person instruction, we will likely follow a model similar to prior years but with safety and sanitation protocols in place to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19. If you are not comfortable returning to in-person instruction, please let us know and we will work with you to continue your distance education plan.

We are committed to keeping you updated to changes as they occur and will be sending out regular e-mails as we get closer to the beginning of the school year. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Education Supervisor, Rebecca Bahr at rebeccab@careertech.us .

Sincerely,

Rebecca Bahr, Education Supervisor
Sean Larsen, Principal
