Dear students and families,
On Wednesday, Governor Kate Brown announced that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools would remain closed for the rest of the 2019-20 school year. This guidance allows us to plan for the remainder of the school year based on the distance learning model that we have recently implemented. While we all still have many questions about the extended closure, additional guidance will be forthcoming, and we will communicate that information as we receive it. As of last Friday, we had reached out to all of our students and families and are pleased to say that the majority of students have engaged in classes this week. If you have had difficulty connecting with teachers or accessing courses, please let us know so we can help troubleshoot any issues you may be experiencing. We are committed to getting all students re-engaged and working on their courses for the remainder of the year. Students, please also make sure you are checking your school email account regularly for ongoing updates and information from your teachers.
Graduation Pathways 2020 New guidance has been released by the Oregon Department of Education regarding graduation pathways for the class of 2020. Some key information includes:
- Allowing seniors to receive credit for any course in which they were passing at the time of the extended school closure.
- Assigning seniors a Pass or Incomplete for all courses impacted by the school closure. Incomplete courses still need to be completed.
- Suspension of Essential Skills and Personalized Learning Requirements.
- Ensuring seniors receive support toward meeting graduation requirements and preparing them for their next steps in life.
In addition to regular updates for all, we will be issuing further guidance specifically to seniors in the coming weeks including plans for recognizing and celebrating our graduating class.
